Monaco Sit Sixth as Le Mans Struggle in Ligue 1 Table Update

Monaco occupy sixth place in French Ligue 1 with 16 points from ten matches, while Le Mans sit 15th on eight points, according to the BBC's league table published on Sunday 8 November 2026. The same BBC report lists the starting line-ups and substitutes for both clubs. Monaco are managed by Filipe Luís.

The table, last updated at 18:12 that day, shows Paris Saint-Germain leading on 23 points after ten games, with Lille second on 21 and Paris FC third on 20.

Why it matters

The standings frame the gap between the two clubs. Monaco's 16 points leave them in the Conference League qualifying spot, the position the BBC's key assigns to sixth place. Le Mans, seven places and eight points further back, are three points clear of the relegation play-off place held by Angers and five above the bottom two.

For Monaco, the table reflects a mixed run rather than a collapse: four wins, four draws and two defeats, with 13 goals scored and 11 conceded for a goal difference of plus two. Le Mans have won once, drawn five and lost four, scoring 12 and conceding 19 for a goal difference of minus seven. Their five draws are the most of any side in the bottom half of the table as listed.

How the two squads line up

The BBC's team sheets give a detailed picture of both matchday squads.

Le Mans start with Kocik in goal behind a back line of Voyer, Yohou — who wears the captain's armband — and Bamba. Bretelle anchors the midfield, with Calodat and Buadés alongside him. Vercruysse and Traoré operate as attacking midfielders, and Gueye and Mafouta lead the attack.

The bench offers Le Mans several options. Boissé came on for Buadés in the 85th minute, Kharroubi replaced Vercruysse on 66 minutes, and Rabillard took Traoré's place on 74 minutes. Colas came on for Gueye at 66 minutes and Harhouz replaced Mafouta at 74. Hatfout, Larouci, Lauray and Torrente were also named among the substitutes.

Monaco's line-up begins with Hrádecky in goal. Vanderson, Sané, Dier and Flávio Nazinho form the defence. Zakaria, the captain, and Camara sit in defensive midfield, with Coulibaly, Golovin and Detourbet ahead of them and Abline as the striker.

Filipe Luís made three changes on 54 minutes, sending on Minamino for Detourbet, Brunner for Golovin and Balogun for Abline. Teze replaced Coulibaly on 67 minutes, and Mawissa came on for Flávio Nazinho on 88. Balogun, Brunner, Cabral, Diop, Köhn and Mawissa were among the players listed as available from the bench.

The wider table

The BBC's standings show a tight cluster in the middle. Lyon and Nice are level on 17 points in fourth and fifth, with Monaco a point behind them. Rennes also have 16 points but sit seventh on goal difference, having scored and conceded 21 apiece. Marseille and Brest are on 15, Lorient also on 15, and Lens and Toulouse on 13.

At the other end, Strasbourg and Auxerre each have ten points, Le Mans, Angers and Troyes are all on eight, and Le Havre are bottom with two points from ten games and no wins.

The BBC's key explains the stakes attached to each position: first, second and third go to the Champions League, fourth to the Champions League qualifiers, fifth to the Europa League and sixth to the Conference League qualifiers. Sixteenth means a relegation play-off, and 17th and 18th mean relegation.

Monaco's next fixtures will show whether they can close on the European places above them, while Le Mans need points to pull clear of the bottom three.
